Seasonal Assistance

Throughout the year, we are able to offer various seasonal assistance, including gearing kids up for back to school, sending kids to summer camp, or providing toys and food during the holidays.

"We here at The Salvation Army Portland TabernacleCorps are always interested in providing the best level of service as our resources allow.  While we are sorry that we can't meet every need, we can and will do our best to provide an atmosphere of service that seeks to value and love those who come to us for assistance.

We appreciate your opinion and would ask you to fill out the following survey and let us know how we are doing.  Thank you.

Holiday Assistance

The holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress for families in need. That's why The Salvation Army has a variety of services to help families and individuals experience the joys of the season.

Grocery and Food Assistance - The Salvation Army helps struggling families keep food on their table. Hungry people are also welcome to take advantage of the food assistance provided through The Salvation Army's many feeding programs and shelters. In some areas, prepared holiday meals are delivered to those in need or shut-in.

Toys & Gifts - Christmas is a magical time for children and adults alike, and part of that magic and joy is watching a child's face light up as he or she opens a present Christmas morning.  For many parents, it can be a struggle to afford Christmas gifts.  That is where The Salvation Army steps in through its Angel Tree Programs and Adopt-a-Family Programs.  Families receive toys and other essentials for Christmas, making the holiday extra special that year.

Holiday Events

Holidays provide a sense of joy and tradition. Even in hard times, acknowledging holiday customs may provide a sense of relief and peace. Because of this, The Salvation Army endeavors to spread hope year-round while also acknowledging religious and national holidays.

As a Christian organization, The Salvation Army shares the wonder of God's love with those less fortunate at Christmas as well as Thanksgiving and Easter. Other holiday observances vary in accordance with local culture and customs.
